It wasn't like Edward had expected it to all be easy.

From the very beginning when they'd first committed the taboo of Alchemy, both boys knew they'd suffer a long burden and a lot of pain, emotional for Alphonse, but physical as well for Edward.

The years had passed by so slowly and yet now that it was over, it seemed like being 17 years old had crept up on him frighteningly fast. Just weeks ago he'd been 16 in a body that had experienced a rather late growth spurt, though notFanfiction: Those First Nights Were Cold by ~Lyson
Miles Away  Alphonse Elric stood in front of the bathroom mirror, a distressed frown on his face. He couldn't understand what was wrong with him.
  Large chunks of his memory had apparently gone missing; he was having strange dreams about a boy with a nasty cough and a funny accent, and now this.
  As Al gazed into the mirror, it wasn't his large gray eyes that stared back at him, but the fierce gold ones of his older brother. Why was it Edward's reflection that he saw and not his own?

Rain  It was spring. And as anyone would know, with spring comes rain, lots of it, fat and heavy, along with the occasional thunder storm. And anyone who knew him knew that Alphonse Elric absolutely hated thunder storms.
He'd hated them ever since he was a boy, though was more of a crushing fear than a burning hate. He'd never say it aloud, but he was terrified of thunder storms. And it most certainly didn't help that that night's storm was the biggest Resembool had seen in quite some time.
